Our seawater salmon farms are located in Orkney and Shetland, the most northernly part of the United Kingdom. The strong tidal waters surrounding the islands make them the perfect place to rear the world’s finest salmon, with one of the lowest carbon footprints of any farmed livestock.
The Cooke family’s group of companies started with Cooke Aquaculture, which was established in 1985 as Kelly Cove Salmon by Gifford, Michael and Glenn Cooke. Cooke has gone from strength to strength, growing organically as well as through a series of strategic acquisitions in North America, Latin America, Europe and Australia.
Cooke Scotland was established in 2014 after Cooke acquired the successful seawater and freshwater assets in Orkney, Shetland and the UK mainland. The company began to build on its Scottish operations with the acquisition of salmon farms in Yell, Shetland in 2015 and opening the Yell Packing Station a year later.
Cooke established an in-house feed division – Northeast Nutrition Scotland – in the Scottish highlands, as part of its strategy of vertical integration and quality control at every stage of the salmon farming process.
Today, Cooke produces some of the very best seafood in the world.
