Belmont House is a community asset but privately owned and operated by the Wilson family, since June 2022. Without guests and the support of the community, Belmont House could not survive – especially since running costs are high, with regular maintenance required to preserve the building against the harsh northern climate.

By staying at Belmont House, you are directly helping preserve this wonderful historic property for future generations to enjoy.

Friendly, well-behaved animals are welcome at an additional cost of £20 per day (to cover extra cleaning)

61º North, Elegance and Luxury in the UK’s Northernmost Stately Home. Winner of more than 8 Prestigious Architectural Awards and a Category ‘A’ Listed Building (Scotland) Grade 1 (England). Described as ‘One of the best preserved neo-classical Georgian Houses in Scotland’ and ‘The most northerly Country House in Britain’ makes this a stay to remember.

Built in 1775, Belmont House overlooks the Bluemull Sound on Unst with very rare three-quarter views from the Drawing Room south towards Linga Island and Yell, west towards the Loch of Belmont and north towards the Loch of Snarravoe . Viking heritage is but a whisker away. Immaculately restored, this elegant house is set into a designed landscape with walled formal gardens which are included in the Inventory of Historic Gardens. Belmont House is a building of National historic and architectural significance and importance.
